UNHCR CONFERS WITH ZLDC REGARDING LEGAL PROTECTIONS FOR REFUGEES

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Deputy Representative to Zambia, Mr. Koffi Odwomo in a courtesy call with the Zambia Law Development Commission (ZLDC) today, stated that the organisation is interested in learning about the work of the Commission. This is with the view to engaging in possible collaborations to improve the welfare of refugees in the country.

Mr. Odwomo, stated that the Organisation wants to see refugees, asylum-seekers, and others of concern be integrated into the “agenda of national inclusion” so that they will be able to participate in the development process of the country.

And ZLDC Director Mrs. Hope N. Chanda expressed happiness at the visit by the UNHCR stating that the Commission would be glad to partner with the organisation to undertake law-related reviews aimed at improving the welfare of refugees being hosted in Zambia.

The Commission was represented by Director Mrs.Hope N. Chanda, Inutu Akolwa (Senior Research Officer), Lina Jere (Senior Research Officer), and Innocent Siachitoba (Research Officer).
